The Depravity of Man on Full Display

May 30, 2020

Depravity of Man (Graphic)

Thoughts on the Needless Death of Mr. George Floyd of Minneapolis Minnesota

The past week, in news and social media, has been a full review of the depravity of fallen man.  Our nation has witnessed the unbelievable brutality exercised upon a fellow human being and the subsequent taking of his life.  America has viewed the video in horror at such treatment of a fellow American and human being.  It is right and reasonable that we should be appalled and that we should demand justice be done.

The resulting protests are justifiably understandable.  Our collective nation should rise up with one voice and declare “That is not acceptable from any authority!” We should demand that the ones who caused the death of a shackled man should be held accountable to the fullest extent of the law. Any civilized nation cannot withstand the wanton and reckless taking of a human life.

Yet, even in the protest, the depravity of man is again on display.  The honorable protests have been marred by those whose agenda has been destruction and ill-gotten gain.  The disregard for life and property by those who have vandalized fellow human beings is a revelation of the heart of fallen and sinful man. By the destructive vandalism, those responsible have distracted the focus from the atrocity committed by the police officers against Mr. Floyd.

This all serves to remind us that our nation needs Christ.  Only Christ can offer peace in the midst of the storm.  Only Christ can bring unity and hope.

It must be understood that man cannot be reconciled to man until man is first reconciled to God.  To try and reconcile men to each other, without first being reconciled to God, is as futile as rearranging the deck chairs on the Titantic and hoping to save lives by it.  A sinful and fallen man must be reconciled to a Holy God.  That is only possible through personal faith in Jesus Christ.

It is then, and ONLY then, that reconciliation can take place between ethnicities. We cannot “reform” fallen man, he MUST be REBORN (see John 3).  Once a person has truly been reconciled to God through salvation, then there is absolutely no place within their heart for racism, bigotry, or prejudice.  Once a person has truly been born again, that person will love and respect persons of all ethnicities.

May we seek to point people today to Christ.  May we pray for them as we seek to get the gospel of Christ into every community across our nation and around the world.  We must pray for God’s great name to be magnified and glorified.

  · by Pastor Wynn
Come Back Home graphic

We are thrilled and excited about being about to gather together in-person again!  Sunday, May 17, will be our first in-person service since March 15.  That is TWO MONTHS since we last assembled!  What a blessing this Sunday will be.

Of course, we will be using the recommended Social Distancing Guidelines.  To download a copy of the guidelines, you can click the button below.

We will have all safety protocols in place.  There will be masks available, we will not be shaking hands or hugging, we will not be sitting close to each other, and we will have the offering plate sitting by the sound booth so that you may drop your offering in as you pass by.

All of our members and regular attenders are invited to come on Sunday.  It would help us to ensure that we are having our maxim crowd if you will take just a moment and complete the form on this page.  If you have someone who does not regularly attend, who wants to come, please call first and see if seating space is available.  If you are not coming, please let us know.  We understand if you feel you need to stay at home a little longer.

If you have any questions, please call the church number at 706.322.1958 or either one of the elders.

Wonderful Christmas Banquet

December 12, 2019
  · by Pastor Wynn

Wow! What a great Christmas Banquet we had on Wednesday night, December 11.  The Fellowship Hall was PACKED.

Special thanks to Jakki Marshall, Francis Mitchell, Cyndee Redmond, Dianna Roberts, Stephanie Slavy, Sheryl Tarvin, and Kathy Wynn for each providing a Christmas themed table with place settings.  Look at the pictures and see the great job that was done!

Thank you also to Francis Mitchell, Donald Wyckoff and Kathy Wynn for making the spaghetti, and to Jakki Marshall for making the Zuppa Tusconna soup.  Thanks to everyone who brought desserts, and drinks.  The whole meal was wonderful!

We had great Christmas singing, gave away many door prizes, and had a great message from Ray Prince, pastor of Berea Baptist in Dahlonega Georgia.  We also had a testimony time, and it was encouraging to see the young folks get involved.  It was a blessing to hear the testimonies of God’s grace.

We are truly blessed to have a wonderful family church!

    Food Sunday, September 22

    September 15, 2019
      · by Pastor Wynn

Sunday, September 22, is our monthly “Food Sunday.”  This means that everyone is to bring enough food to feed your family and a few more.  That way we will have enough food for everyone, including our guests.

Food Sunday is always a great time of fellowship after the morning service.  It is a part of what helps make a church a family.  So, plan on coming and bringing a friend too.

After the dinner, you are also invited to go with us over to the Savannah Grand Assisted Living Center on Williams Road.  We will be sing for the wonderful people there. They always enjoy us coming and it is a blessing to them.

We look forward to a great Sunday!
